Mr & mrs. Schluen
Tell us about the engagement: “I actually planned the photo shoot for professional fall photos to be done with our friend. It was raining so they changed the location to a friend property who had a heart shaped pond (which I didn’t realize it was that shape). We took a photo with my back towards the camera and our friend/photographer gave him the ring and he proposed at the edge of the pond. “
How Did you two Meet? “We grew up in the same town and went to high school together, but 3 years apart. After college we were both single and his best friend gave him my snapchat and he added me by my snap code. So I called him out on snachat, asking what does it mean when a guy does that, and it started it all”

Getting ready
The First Look
“The first look was something we really wanted and our parents weren’t too on board. Both of my grandparents passed away during the wedding planning process so I incorporated my grandmas furniture into the reception and their favorite place to eat was Mel’s Country Cafe so I had them cater. Our anniversary dance with our guest was Silver Wings which was my grandparents favorite song. My husband wanted to party at the reception so that’s what he got.”
Ceremony moments
Favorite Moment of the day:
“Honestly the whole thing was memorable. But I did faint at the alter so that’s kind of engraved in my brain and my guests. It’s a fun story and made our wedding unforgettable! Luckily our videographer got a video and put a clip of it in our video and our guest and us love that he did that!”
Wedding party
When it comes to selecting your wedding party, pick the people that support you as a couple.
Reception Details
What is the advice you would give another bride:
“A day of binder was helpful – I had my checks, vows, marriage license, tips for venders, make up schedule and timeline in there and made sure multiple bridesmaids and my coordinator knew where it was. I was content with everything the day of, I spent a year planning and there was nothing else I could do that’s day. Things went wrong and not as planned but I kept saying “no one will know it wasn’t suppose to be that way but us” and “if that’s the worst thing that’s going to happen today that’s okay” just to keep my sanity and stay positive. Everyone knew their jobs and I had my decorations organized and labeled in the boxes”
embrace the weather
Venue Advice here, rain on your wedding day can happen, so don’t be afraid to grab an umbrella and embrace the moment. Picking a photographer that is not phased by imperfect weather is the best decision you could make. We’d all love a beautiful sunny day, with the perfect clouds, but that’s not life. Sometimes you get a little rain and humidity, but it’s why you picked a space that is beautiful in no matter what.
